Sharing the stage with the 2012 Tunis Open, the first edition of the Nana Trophy was held from 23 to 29 April in prelude to the tennis season flagship competition of the Tennis Club de Tunis. This competition is part of the WTA Tour and saw the participation of the Tunisian star of the moment: Ons Jabeur, The competition has seduced the Nana brand of the Sancella Group which decided to be its premier partner.
Aziz Zouhir, CEO of Sotupa-Sancella (Nana, Libero Peaudouce...) is in fact at the origin of this initiative. A former Tunisian tennis player, and one of the former organizers of the Tunis Open, Mr. Zouhir sees a real opportunity to develop tennis in general and women's tennis in particular through international tournaments. This initiative was motivated by the great sports achievements of Tunisian athletes in recent years.
In its press release, the Nana brand states that it "encourages and support the young Tunisian sportswomen, while contributing to the promotion and development of a sport activity with which the brand shares several values such as elegance and performance". Nana not only seeks to be more visible, but hopes as well to show its strong commitment towards its target. It chose to acquire the Naming rights and become the premier partner of this competition. It also took charge of the entire Prize Money: 25 000$.
